Payments

Get paid the moment a quote is accepted

Chasing a deposit is the slowest part of winning a job. Put a deposit on the quote and your customer pays it the second they accept, on their phone, before they have a chance to go quiet on you.

Money settles into your own Stripe account. It never passes through ours.

How it works

Four steps, and only the first one is something you have to do once.

  1. Stripe
    Step 1

    Connect your Stripe account

Settings, then Integrations, then Connect. If you do not have a Stripe account yet you can create one in the same step. It takes a few minutes.

  2. Step 2

Set a deposit on the quote

Add a deposit percentage, or break the job into payment milestones that add up to the contract sum. The customer sees exactly what they are paying and when.

  3. Step 3

They accept and pay in one go

Accepting the quote takes the customer straight to a Stripe payment page. They pay by card and the job is funded before you order a thing.

  4. Step 4

The money goes to your account

Funds settle into your own Stripe account on your own payout schedule. The receipt and tax invoice are issued automatically, and you get notified the moment it lands.

Built for builders and trades

Builders

Fund the job before you order materials. Break a build into payment milestones on the quote, then collect each one from the payments page as the work lands.

  • Deposit collected on acceptance
  • Progress claims paid without a phone call
  • Receipts and tax invoices issued automatically

Trades

Stop fronting the cost of a job for a customer who pays late. Ask for a deposit on every quote you send, and let the ones who are serious prove it.

  • A deposit on every quote, not just the big ones
  • No invoice to chase after the work is done
  • Paid into your own account, on your own schedule

Your money, your account

We never hold your funds

Every payment is charged directly on your own Stripe account. You are the merchant of record. Build Paperless is not a payment facilitator and never has your money.

Card details never touch us

Payment happens on a Stripe-hosted page. We never see or store a card number, which is also why there is nothing for us to leak.

You know the moment it lands

A payment, a failure, or a disputed charge all notify you, rather than landing silently in a log file.

What it costs

One flat monthly fee, added to your existing subscription invoice.

$49per month, plus GST($53.90 inc GST)
  • Unlimited payments. The fee does not scale with what you collect.
  • Switch it on from Settings, and off again whenever you like.
  • Folds into your normal monthly invoice as a line item after the first month.

Stripe charges its own processing fee on each payment, set by Stripe and taken from the payment before it reaches you. That fee is between you and Stripe. We do not add a percentage on top and we take no cut of what you collect.

Common questions

Does Build Paperless hold my money?

No. Payments are charged directly on your own Stripe account, so you are the merchant of record and the funds settle to you on your own Stripe payout schedule. Build Paperless is not a payment facilitator and your money never passes through our accounts.

Do I need a Stripe account already?

No. If you do not have one, you can create it during the connect step in Settings, then Integrations. You will need your business details and a bank account for payouts, the same as opening any merchant account.

What can my customers pay with?

Card. The customer is taken to a Stripe-hosted payment page when they accept your quote, so they can pay on a phone without creating an account.

Can I pass the processing fee on to my customer?

Not through Build Paperless. There is no surcharging option, deliberately. Australian rules on card surcharging have been under reform and we would rather not build a feature that quietly puts you on the wrong side of them.

What does it cost?

$49 per month plus GST, added to your normal subscription invoice, with no cap on how much you collect. Stripe charges its own processing fee per payment, set by Stripe and deducted before the money reaches you. We take no percentage of your payments.

Is it available on my plan?

Yes. It is an optional module you can switch on from Settings, then Integrations, on any plan, as long as your account has a payment method on file. You can turn it off again whenever you like.

Stop chasing the deposit

Turn it on from Settings in under five minutes, on any plan.
